The school health team visits schools for displaced children in and near Mae Sot and provides them with important health education.
The school health team visits schools for displaced children in and near Mae Sot to provide a number of services including vision screening, nutrition, water/sanitation assessment, first aid supplies, polio-vaccinations, biannual prophylactic de-worming and vitamin A supplementation and dental and oral care. We reach approximately 10,800 students. The School Health Team cooperated with Shoklo Malaria Research Unit (SMRU) for the vaccination program.
During January to June 2011, the MTC health team provided a one and half month course covering first aid and social services training to 50 students. The students were from 7 migrant schools in Mae Sot area. After completing the course work, those students went on to complete internships at Mae Tao Clinic. A total of 43 students from 7 migrant schools completed the “Bugle Corp training”.
