Meet Our Students (8): Taw Klue’s Story

My parents encouraged me to study.  They told me if I do not study, I will face difficulties when I grow up. When I heard that I was very motivated and eager to learn because I do not want to be illiterate and have no choice for my job in the future. I want to become a social worker because I would like to help orphaned children. The reason why I want to support those children is that I think the education is very important for everyone and without a proper support, it can be very hard for them to be at school.

My name is Taw Klue. I am 20 years old. I have been living in the boarding house for three years. I am attending pre-GED (General Educational Development) class at CDC (Children’s Development Centre) migrant learning centre. I like my school because teachers teach and guide me to the right way. In addition, it is the safest place for all students to stay and go to school.

I came to Thailand in order to be able to continue my education. I love to study in Thailand because I think the education system is better than Burma/Myanmar where I am from. In the school, Thai langue is integrated into the curriculum. I love to learn the Thai Language because I want to work in Thailand after I graduate. I am sure if I still lived in Burma/Myanmar, I would not have this kind of opportunity to learn Thai langue or have a high quality of education.

My parents encouraged me to study.  They told me if I do not study, I will face difficulties when I grow up. When I heard that I was very motivated and eager to learn because I do not want to be illiterate and become a hard labour.

Among GED program, my favourite subject is English because English is the international language and I believe that if I can speak fluent English, I can find a better job in the future. At school, we are not only learning from books but also having various social activities. And sometimes we are invited to participate in cultural exchange event by local authorities. This makes me so happy and I am very proud to share my culture with others.

My dream is very simple but is the most important for me — I want to become a social worker because I would like to help orphaned children through humanitarian organizations. The reason why I want to support those children is that I think the education is important for everyone and without a proper support, it can be very hard for them to be at school. While working in the field, I think I can gain more knowledge and experience regarding the humanitarian work.

The support from donors is very important for me. It gives me an opportunity to access to education and have a safe place. I would like to say thank you to donors for their generous contributions.

(We conduct interviews with our students in accordance with the MTC Child Protection Policy. Interviews are conducted by our responsible Child Protection staff who are trained.)
