Dear friends and supporters of Mae Tao Clinic,

As you are likely already aware, the situation regarding Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is rapidly worsening internationally. As a community-based organisation with a strong emphasis in healthcare, Mae Tao Clinic (MTC) is actively engaging in the prevention and control of this virus. One such measure is to recommend all of our international visitors to strongly consider postponing their visit to Mae Sot and the MTC. If you are experiencing new symptoms of fever, cough and/or shortness of breath regardless of where you are travelling from, then it is essential that you self-isolate and follow your local advice about accessing healthcare services.

Due to the location of Mae Sot on the border, and the large breadth of international NGOs, charitable activities and booming investments and businesses, this area receives very high international traffic. Most of this international traffic are from countries currently considered high-risk. The MTC also receives a case-load exceeding 90,000 patients a year, many of whom have other underlying health conditions. Therefore, to protect our patients, staff, local community, and also your own health and the international community, we would greatly appreciate your cooperation on this matter. Of course, we can still consider organising meetings and hosting tours via Skype and other online platforms.

For those who still decide to visit, we ask that you please wash your hands regularly and wear a breathing mask which fits firmly.

Best wishes,

Health Management Team

Mae Tao Clinic
