Community Health Team was set up to achieve a number of key goals to step up information distribution on health and education access options for migrants on the Thai-Burma border; develop an effective outbreak alert system and disaster preparedness system with our community networks; increased involvement with local health centres and workers who work to improve health promotion and prevention in communities; improve access to birth registration and documentation for children deliver by at home (TBA); embed community health principles into all Mae Tao Clinic (MTC) programs; continue to advocate for occupational health and safety with our partner agencies for Burmese migrant workers; and continue to partner with environmental health agencies for environmental health and human rights.
MTC has worked closely with the Thai Ministry of Public Health, CBOs, and NGOs to organize health awareness campaigns such as World Tuberculosis Day, World AIDS Day, Dengue Campaign, and Global Handwashing Day. These campaigns provide health information through interactive activities while workshops and meetings address first aid, mental health, and parent-child relationships. The influx of displaced populations since the coup led MTC to expand its volunteer support program, increasing the number of community health volunteers from 20 in 2022 to 38 in 2024. Community volunteers became essential in delivering health education on disease prevention, sanitation, and healthy behavior, as well as providing timely referral services for individuals requiring advanced care at MTC and other facilities.

Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) activities were strengthened through collaboration with the Suwannimit Foundation (SNF). Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) modules were developed and delivered across MLCs.
The School Health Program supports school health activities and assessments in MLCs in Tak Province, in line with the MECC Education Quality Framework. The Program has expanded to address the vulnerabilities of children in overcrowded unsanitary conditions at MLCs. In 2023 and 2024, 2,587 students in 29 MLCs received HPV vaccines. As part of regular ongoing school health activities, 65 MLCs received first-aid kits for 18,000 students and 59 MLCs received Vitamin-A and deworming treatments.

Mae Tao Clinic (MTC) is a community-based organization that has served the migrant community and internally displaced populations for more than 35 years.
