Dr Cynthia Maung wins the 2018 Roux Prize

Dear friends of Mae Tao Clinic,

We are excited and honoured to announce that on September 26th,Dr. Cynthia Maung has been awarded the 2018 Roux Prize. She has personally attended the awarding ceremony in Washington DC, U.S.A.

The Roux Prize was established by David and Barbara Roux in 2013 to award innovation in the application of disease burden research, and is awarded in cooperation with the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation. The prize recognises the person who has used health evidence in bold ways to make people healthier.

We sincerely appreciate the acknowledgement of David and Barbara Roux for the work of Dr. Cynthia Maung, Mae Tao Clinic and its partners. It truly is a great honour for the health services provided along the Thai-Burma border to be recognised in this way. We also greatly appreciate the visit of the Roux Prize team to Mae Tao Clinic to produce a special video, which presents how data from our health information systems are practically utilised to address health issues and thus bringing positive change to our community.

We would like to share the honour of this award with our partner organisations that have been proactively and passionately working together with us to achieve this result; as well as with the numerous organisations that invited and warmly welcome Dr. Cynthia and staff in the United States.

Last but not least, we at Mae Tao Clinic wish to congratulate  Dr. Cynthia Maung on her award, and her tireless and selfless efforts to provide and promote essential services to people in absolute need.
